Cooperative Rural Development Trust

Activity: Practical Training Programme for farmers.

IFFCO promoted Cooperative Rural Development Trust (CORDET) in the year 1979 to provide education and training to farmers. The CORDET units are set up at Phulphur, Kalol and Kandla locations.

The Cooperative Rural Development Trust (CORDET) has been providing practical training to farmers to improve their skills in crop, animal husbandry, horticulture, farm mechanisation, balanced fertilization, use of bio-fertilisers, bee-keeping, pisciculture, computer use, screen printing, welding, tailoring and embroidery, adult education programmes, fruits and vegetables preservation etc. at Phulpur and Kalol units.

During the year 2016-17, CORDET has organized 284 training programmes benefiting 20,464 farmers including women from various States. CORDET Phulpur and Kalol also provide free soil testing facilities through their Soil Testing Laboratories to the farmers and analysed 87,042 soil samples during the year 2016-17.  In addition, 1,21,298 soil samples were also analysed for micro nutrients such as Iron, Copper, Zinc, Manganese Boron and Sulphur and 25 samples for quality of irrigation water.

To increase microbial activities in the soil, CORDET has increased the production capacity of liquid bio-fertilisers from 2 lakh litres to 11 lakh litres per annum by enhancing production capacity at Phulpur and setup of new production units at Paradeep and Aonla. The total production of bio fertilizers during 2016-17 was 8.13 lakh litres.

Neem oil extraction unit with the capacity of 150 MT/year has been set up at CORDET Phulpur.

At CORDET Phulpur, seed multiplication of paddy and wheat was undertaken over an area of 43 ha and a quantity of approx 1,044.3 quintals of paddy seed and 378 quintals of wheat seed (foundation seeds) were produced.

Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) has been undertaken in 14 villages. A variety of social and promotional activities like construction of community centres, drinking water facility, tree plantation, soil testing campaigns, supply of cattle feed, promotion of vermi compost, mini-kit distribution (CIP) etc. were undertaken in these villages.
